Hi Everyone,
I am not new to Linux but I am new to the Mac. I am trying to install =
2.3. I have 28 MB of RAM and a 235 MB HDD on OS 8.5 on a 7100/66. I =
added a second scsi disk (2.1GB) to the chain. It is not an Apple disk =
and the machine does not recognize it. The steps I have done so far:
-Set the disk to terminate from the bus as this is recommended by Apple. =
(Tried setting active termination on drive also as this is supported by =
the Seagate ST32550N)
-Set the ID to 5. My Internal HDD is at 0 and the CD is at 3.
-Performed setup to the point that I got the bootx installer loaded =
hoping that Linux would take over and find the disk.
-Restarted after installing the loader and got Error 10. The only =
explanation I got was to restart and hold down the shift key to kill =
extensions presumably because the Mac didn't recognize it.
The only conclusion is that the Mac is not seeing an Apple signature on =
the disk. I really do not want to buy a formatter program.
I am writing an article on this and I am trying the newsgroups first =
before I call YDL. Help me out and get your name up in lights ;o)
Thanks
Jon
