Basic install question

I am about to purchase the YDL CD for my PM 6500. I only want to run Linux
(My new PM G4 will handle my MacOS work).

I have gathered that I will need to install a minimal MacOS and bootx. My
question are:

How should I partition my drive before I install the OSes? I am not a newbe
to Unix / Linux administration. I only have the original 3GB internal hard
drive.

What is the minimal I need in the MacOS?

I will also attempt to get the Sonnet G3/L2 card to work. I will follow the
instructions in the YDL list.
