Question about e-mail folders

Hi:

I am using Netscape 4.7 and have lots of folders and sub-folders.  I may need 
to refer to these later on and would like to know how to safely remove these 
folders either using windows explorer or somehow with the Netscape  mail 
program.

I do have a CD Burner so can archive via that method.
