I understand your frustration Rick. I have been there. First off plug and
play Linux doesn=B9t exist and will take a few years to actually be ready for
the average consumer. Until then it is still very much in the realm of the
geeks.

For a few pointers to see if we can get you going.

Use the 2.2 kernel. The 2.3 kernel may work on old world machines but few
ever get it to work.

Second, make sure that you delete the existing Linux partitions (with the
install YDL disk with the custom selection) and then quit the install
program. Then restart and create new partitions and do the install. For the
boot disk use 100MB instead of the 10MB recommended. I am not sure why that
is an issue but that is the work around that got YDL to work for me.

I have found YDL to be user vicious and switched to SuSE Linux which is muc=
h
easier to use.

But trying my suggestions will solve most of your problems with YDL.
