Wondering about install

I just ordered YDL 2.3 for my slot-loading 350 mhz iMac. My plan is 
to only have Linux on it. My question is,when I get to the 
partitioning part of the install can I just delete my Macintosh 
partition,and then add my Linux ones? I do not have a MacOS CD and I 
have this nagging feeling I will need one or that I will turn my 
machine into a paperweight.
I am both scared and excited about this new direction. I got a two 
button mouse today at walmart for cheap.
