Gnome 2

I don't know if you've tried this already, but there's more a more
recent version of Garnome at
http://www.gnome.org/~jdub/garnome/download/ The YDL FAQ links to an
older version, 0.15.0

I managed to get Garnome 0.18.3 running under a 'Recommended' YDL
install, but I think Garnome 0.17.1 is advised for best stability.
0.18.3 seemed a little flaky on my system, but in fairness I haven't
spent a lot of time playing with it. It was more of a 'see if it works'
exercise rather than trying to do anything productive.

Now that I have a taste of what *good* AA fonts look like in Gnome2, and
how much better asthetics and performance are compared to Gnome 1.4, I'm
anxiously awaiting for a certain LinuxPPC vendor to more/less sync-up
with RH8. ;)

HTH,
D.

Subject: Gnome 2

I think I've had it! I've spent the last 9 days trying to compile Gnome
2 with the instructions on the YDL website and it still doesn't work
even after a fresh install. I've installed as many components as I can
(I only have 3 gigs for Linux) but I still can't get YDL + gnome on my
2002 iBook. Could someone please help me out, or tell me where I could
find binaries? I like Linux, but compiling a program and recompiling
over and over again is not fun.

Thanks.
