#%$@&@$%#& dependencies <snarl, mutter ...> (Mark Nye)

i have a question about this. when i look for ld-linux.so.2, what 
comes up are many version of glibc-2.x.x... etc.
so this means that the dependency needed is a newer version of a 
library that compiles the c code?
also mostly i find -386 or -586 versions, which would one use for 
ppc/yellowdog linux?
