AfterStep

I have been successfully running Yellow Dog Linux 2.2 on my G3 upgraded 
Powermac 6100 for a few months now but have had a lot of problems with 
KDE frequently crashing.  Has anyone used AfterStep as an alternative 
window manager?

Also, it appears that AfterStep is available in the YDL Champion 
distribution but not in 2.2.  Is there a reason for that?

Could anyone point me to a HOWTO that would help me get AfterStep 
working on my machine?
