RE: linux:2,/vmlinux: Unable to open file, Invalid device > Myles
Davis
I suspect the YDL 2.3 installer is not formatting the boot partition.
I see status bars saying it is formatting the other 2 partitions, but
not for the boot partition.
Could this explain the error message: "cd-linux:2,/vmlinux: Unable to
open file, Invalid device" ?
I also get the error message: hd:2,\\vmlinux:Unknown or corrupt
filesystem
...when I try the "hd-install" option. instead of the "cd-linux
root=/dev/hde2"
I've tried resetting the PRAM settings, resetting the firmware
"boot-device" parameter, and recreating the boot partition and
re-installing yaboot - none produce any different results.
I'm considering trying to force the formatting of the boot partition,
(if possible), and then re-running the YDL installer.....but not quite
sure how to do the formatting.
