Linux on Mac PPC5400 w/G3 and Virtual PC

I haven't been able to get YDL 2.3 to install on my PPC 5400/200 so 
I'm going to put a G3 upgrade card in and install Virtual PC version 
3 or 4. Once I've installed Virtual PC will I be able to install an x86 
distribution of Linux. I have install disks for Red Hat 6.0 and two or 
three versions of Mandrake. ***Ken Browne clacking the keyboard in
