Woo Hoo! Snoopy Dance! Typing this from the imac

1) Thank you everybody for being generous offering advice.

After being directed to the partition menu on the Mac OS Disk Utitlies, I was able to partition (not format) the disk as undefined.

The install went smooth enough -- but I never did get a GUI installer.

The only problem now is that I've got a constant low level buzzzz coming out of the speakers.  The buzz gets worse when I move the mouse. How do I fix this?  :)

Once again, thank you everybody.  I hear again and again that Linux Alpha Geeks are snotty, unhelpful folk.  You all are utterly bastard groovy.
