Is there some special trick I have to know about to get YDL 3.0 X
windows working on a Powermac 9500 with an ATI mach64 video card, 2mb
of video ram, and a 15 inch Apple Multiscan monitor? This monitor is
not detected at bootup. Xautoconfig gives me 256 colors and an almost
unusable 640x480 screen resolution. Do I need more video ram to run X,
or a different monitor? Any help would be appreciated.

2MB (1.58 MB) should support 1024x768 x 16 bits/8 bits per byte (1000s
fo colors).
So that's not the problem. Sometimes it just misses the monitor.
Go into KDE's configuration settings (cant remember which) and
either select the monitor from a pull-down menu, or set the resolution
yourself.

I just downlaoded and I am trying to install YDG 3.0 in a titanium
500/768Ram/40GB with 2 partitions:
1- 5GB for YDG (HFS+ using disk utitily)
2- 35GB for X 10.2.6 and Classic. (HFS+)

as I run the installer, when I get to the partition part, I select Disk
Druid, select the 5GB parttiton and follow the directions in pg6 of the
installation guide, but I get an "unable to allocate partition" error.
I've tried 1- selecting different mount points, 2- edit that partition
and make it an ext3 partition,, and then use the automated formating
for erasing linux only partitions, but I get the same error.
fairly puzzling....
what's the install guide missing?

Harvey,

Thanks - it's working! The problem was that I didn't notice the Option
"CrtcNumber" "1" under Devices, so I just added that line with "0" to the
Monitors section, where presumably it didn't do any good (or was in any case
contradicted under Devices).

I feel very relieved now, after struggling all day yesterday with it to no
avail. I appreciate the quick reply.

Best,
Marc

Try this:

http://lists.terrasoftsolutions.com/pipermail/yellowdog-general/2003-
May/007837.html

if that doesn't work, try using:

	KEY=""

instead (you'll understand one you read the link). One of those
configurations should make the python error go away.

I was having the same problem, so I removed the airport card and
re-installed. Worked after that.

Find the mixer (YDL-menu/Sound and Video, i think) and play around with
it's sliders. The sound effects should disappear then.

If someone would be kind enough to post step by step instructions on how to

After the end of selecting the packages, Anaconda crashes!

My HD-Partitions:
1. 8 GB HFS+ (for Mac OS X)
2. 15 GB HFS (for OS 9)
3. 16 GB Unallocated (for YDL)

My machine:
G3 233 DT

Installer runs through, but after the package selection, when it starts to
write the data to the disc it crashes: "Formatting failure".

The curios thing: The first time, I tried to install YDL, everything went
very well, untill I inserted the third disk, after the the first disk, not
the second one. So I aboted it manually, and from there, I always had the
same problem!!!
I have a dual display, one with the orig. ATI, and a second with a Voodoo 3
2000. But this should not be the problem.

In the meantime, I formatted my disk 2 times with zero data, but the
installer doesn't work anymore.

Please help!!!
