Problems putting the ibook to sleep

I just recently installed YDL 3.0 on my 2002 ibook.  There are some problems 
I am running into, most namely that If I have been using my computer for a 
while, I shut the lid and the thing refuses to go to sleep.  It works fine 
when the unit is freshly started up, but not later.

Does anyone know anything about this?  is there a way to fix this problem?
