I have an HP DeskJet 932C working under YDL 3. Never got it working under 2.3.

I didn't have to do anything fancy. Here's what worked for me:

Go to KDE's control center.
Choose Peripherals-->Printers
Right click in the top pane and choose add printer
Use the wizard that pops up.

Oddly, using System Settings -- > Printing (printconf-gui) did not work for me.
But KDE's wizard worked fine.
