shutdown, switch OS

Hi,

I've just installed YDL on my PowerBook 3400c with a partitioned drive, one side
for MacOS, the other for YDL.

I'm having difficulty finding a monitor setting that works with the graphical
log in for some reason, so I have the monitor set to default into fail safe
mode, which is fine for starting up YDL, I just enter my login and use startx.

My question is, how can I shutdown YDL or switch from YDL back to MacOS? If I
log off from KDE, I return to a text-based prompt on the screen. I can shutdown
or reboot from here, but only if I login as su.

Is there an easy way to go from KDE as a standard user straight to shutdown?

Is there an easy way to switch from KDE back to MacOS (the opposite of using the
BootX App on the Mac side to start Linux)?

Thanks.
