YDL 3 Install hanging at package selection

Powerbook 3400c (48MB RAM, 2GB HD, 240MHz 603e)
MacOS 9.0
XBoot 2.2.1 from Extension
YDL 3.0

Has anyone else experienced a hang at package install?

This is vaguely reminiscent of many failed installs due to lost interrupts
on IDE. Are there params I can pass to the BOOT kernel?

Is there a way to get to a virtual terminal that logs the install process or
maybe a console?
