dvd-cd-rw on ibook

Hello i have a problem with my install of YDL on an ibook. It is an 
800MHz g3 with 640 mb ram and ati radeon 7500. It does reconize the dvd 
but i cannot mount it. If i open it with the F12 button and i insert a 
music cd, it does recgonize it. It also gets the track name from the 
cccd database. It also playes the cd but i cannot hear anything. I also 
doe not see the cd symbol on the desktop. Is there anyone with YDL on 
an recent new ibook like mine and have a similar problem? Also how do i 
mount the dvd ?
