OpenOffice doesn't copy and paste

I happily installed YDL 3.0 and hoped to continue writing with 
OpenOffice, but oddly, I can't do cut-and-paste!

Then I did a complete reformatting of the hard disk and a new install 
of the entire system, and the sane problem occurred. (I have a 
PowerBook Titanium G4 667 (2002).)

Does all this sound familiar to anyone? Or is there an update of OOf 
available for YDL? I tried installing version 1.0.3 for PPC, and it 
works, but the font rendering is ugly.
