Very cool! I hope it works only if you're logged onto the console, though!

Me, I'm an "init 0" kinda guy. But just like "shutdown", you have to be
root. Mine usually plays out as "sudo init 0". Turn it into a handy
three-letter shell script and you're the king of the quick stop.
