Traditional macs like to keep the hardware clock on local time zone.
Traditional *nix likes to keep the hardware clock on UTC.
Mac OS X ?

maybe they're fighting over the difference between UTC and Local time.
Try making sure they all agree about which TZ you're in,
and whether the Hardware Clock is UTC or Local.
