New Install

I am trying to install YDL on a 1gzTiBook, and am having problems with 
the configuration steps after adding users.  It goes through the steps 
for setting up yaboot and the display, and then it reports that it cant 
save configurations because it does not have root.

Any idea how to get around this, or failing that, to force a fresh 
install?  If I just try to install again, it basically does nothing 
until this step.
