iBook sound problems with YDL 3.0

Running YDL 3.0 on my 12" iBook2, I get no sound when using the majority
of sound applications, including Grip. Grip successfully reads from my
combo drive and obtains album and track information from the web, but no
audio is output.

Within the Grip application, CD Config displays the CDRom device as
/dev/cdrom. I have no idea if this is correct (still getting used to the
whole concept of mount points :-\). I have the same problem in both root
and user accounts.
