Problems installing Java Runtime Environment

 I am a very new newbie to Linux. I am running Yellow
Dog Linux 3.0 on a first generation iBook. I am trying
to install the Java Runtime Environment so that I can
run LimeWire. Below is the error I get when trying to
install JRE from the self-extracting binary file.

 y
 Unpacking...
 Checksumming...

 Extracting...
 ./j2re-1_4_2_01-linux-i586.bin: line 312:
./install.sfx.1439: cannot execute binary file
 Done.
 
 I have tried downloading the RPM version of the
installer, but I get the same kind of message.

 Done.
 
 Any idea what the problem might be?
