Hmmm.... It seems as if you are not connected to a network, or, if
connected, do not have it turned on. What do you see if you type
"/sbin/ifconfig"? You should see a description of your network setup,
including an IP address. If all you have is the localhost address
(127.0.0.1) or an IP address in the range 192.168.0.x, then you do not
have an internet connection. I have a DSL modem with a PPPoE
connection, so my /sbin/ifconfig result mentions "ppp0" with an "inet
address" in the range 64.x.x.x or 68.x.x.x.
This might give you some troubleshooting directions.
