can't boot osx

If you used the startup device preference panel in OSX, you have messed
up the boot driver.
You need to read this, if this is the case:
http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/solutions/ydl_3.0/reset_boot.shtml
If that isn't the case, the more experienced folk will have to pitch in.
