How much memory?

This is not really so...up to about 512 is the limit unless your are swapping 
loads of stuff. For example my desktop constantly has up to 20 apps running 
with 512mb of ram and my swap usage is basically nill. Every now and then if 
i open up lots of large images in photoshop i may use about 50mb but that its 
extremely rare. Linux is very very good at managing memory.
