Off hand I would say that the old instance of yum wrote its pid to the file
/var/run/yum.pid and the new one won't start because it thinks it is already
running.

cat the file /var/run/yum.pid and see what number is in it.

Subject: yum install prob

I was doing a 'yum install mysql-devel' and it hung at about 3kb I
rebooted and everytime I try it again or any other yum install I get
this message:
Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running. Aborting.
What should I do?
