Ok. YDL4 has been designed to run on NewWorld macs (but you have an
OldWorld mac). The kernel (vmlinux file) you found on the CDs will just
not work, you must substitute the vmlinux file by the one found on
 <http://www.shiner.info/?files/Yellow%20Dog%20Linux%204/kernel/>
DETAILS:
vmlinux-2.6.8-1.ydl.7
4526K

This is the normal kernel for OW working with YDL4 try this with miboot
install. Let us know if it works for you ???

Its fine with bootx. Don't bother about miboot. So, just put this new
file inside 'Linux kernels', insert YDL4 CD1, open BootX and select the
appropriate kernel in the option dialog and finally click 'Linux' It
should work from now on but don't expect perfection since it will be
running on foreign hardware. Im running it for quite a long time now on
a mac just like yours and have had not much problems beside some
post-install configurations I would gradly help you with. Its nothing
hard to do but, heck, it sure is not as 'easy' as MacOS. Its fun :)
