New install question, open firmware

Hi folks,

I just finished installing 4.1 on an external firewire drive off an  
iMac G5.

All went smoothly until the first re-boot.

It enters open firmware, and tells me to type mac-boot to continue.

But no matter what, it does not accept any input at all. I have to  
power off to get out of it.

Is this enough info for someone to help me out?
