Hi Bill:
Which .sit file are you trying to open? The only .sit file I recall
being on the YDL CDs of that era are the images and information
containing BootX and other components.
BootX is for the Mac OS, so that you can boot into YDL. As long as you
stay with these older systems you will need BootX to boot into YDL.
Understand however that BootX is not provided in YDL 4 and higher. If
you choose to follow what others have done and move on to YDL 4, you
will have to also modify BootX using instructions developed by other
members of this community and archived here:

I understand that these instructions have been modified to include YDL
4.1, but I haven't followed that discussion. This link however is a
starting point, other members of this community should be able to assist
you further.
