No subject

I just want a yes or no answer to the question if there is a yes or no 
answer;
Do you need to have a TV that is High Def or LCD to use Linux on ps3?
And if not will a normal TV with the component video cables do the job?
I have not installed yellow dog Linux on my PlayStation 3 yet because I want 
to know if I am going to be able to to run the applications and Internet on 
my t.v.
I don't want to go through the trouble of learning how to format and 
partition my hard drive and lose all my game saves and stuff, and have this 
not work anyway.
Please help.
