Memory on PS3

The PS3 has 256MB of main ram plus 256 MB of separate video ram.  Sony locks 
Linux out of the graphics processor, so you probably can't access the video

Sony doesn't lock you out of the video RAM; in fact there is already a linux 
way to access it quite easily.

Unfortunately the video ram is designed with a fast write interface but a 
very slow read interface (wouldn't be needed normally except debugging) 
making it dubious if little value in practice (hard disk is probably as 
quick/quicker for larger chunks of 'memory').

I did send in a link to the details a couple of months ago (just before 
5.0.1 release)
