I used a RW too and had no problem at all. Maybe the bootloader has changed because of the YDL v5.0.2 release and does not fit to the 5.0.1 installation DVD. Have a look at another mirror and grab the otheros.bld there. Check the date and compare it with the one you downloaded. If there is a difference, try the older one.
