Is there any way to get a battery gadget for the shelf/iBar for laptop
users?

New to Yellow Dog Linux, long time Debian user.
Target: Sony PS3, 60GB, Logitech cordless keyboard & mouse.
System software is Version 1.90, current at time of install.
Installation source is Terrasoft DVD dated July 11, 2007.

Problem: Installation fails, apparently at or very near end - messages
suggest the installer is trying to write the boot record.

Stack summary shows:
(top)
/usr/lib/anacond/gui.py line 1279 handleRenderCallback
self.currentWindow.renderCallback()

(bottom)
/sr/lib/booty/bootloader.py line 1768 write bootDevice=rootDevice
Unbound Local Error: local variable 'rootDevice' referenced before
assignment

The "save to floppy option" doesn't work, and I was unable to mount a
usb disk or flash drive to which to save the dump.
All options at that point appear to lead to a reboot and reinstall from
the beginning.
Other information of questionable relevance:
Basic partitioning used the 10 GB for PS3 option. On the remainder, Did
custom partition with about
500MB /, 1000MB swap, 256MB /tmp, 6GB /usr, 2GB /var, 2GB /nome, 8GB /opt.
First three are "primary" partitions, remainder logical partitions.
Disk labels appear to be correct - they correspond to the intended mount
point.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Yes. This is from the top of my memory, I'm using a later version of
E17 where things got changed slightly. These instructions may be
slightly inaccurate, but will work with some minor tweaking.

>From the E17 main menu, select Configuration->Modules. Select
the Battery module and load / enable it.

Back in the main menu, Configuration->Shelves. Select the shelf you
want to add it to, click the Configure button, click the "Configure
Contents" button, and add the Battery gadget.
