Cannot find otheros.bld anywhere

I downloaded the YDL 5.0 ISO, burned it onto a DVD but cannot get any
further and I'm totally lost and frustrated. Every piece of documentation I
have found says there needs to be a file called "otheros.bld" in PS3\otheros
on the CD or DVD. Even the documenation at
http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/installation/ydl5.0.2_ps3_guide.pdf
claims
this file should be on the DVD, but it is not.
I'm pretty sure I have the correct DVD because it's about 3GB, and the
release notes file on the disc starts with:
"YELLOW DOG LINUX v5.0 RELEASE NOTES
1. Hardware Support
This particular YDL release supports only the Sony Computer Entertainment
PLAYSTATION(R)3."
So, do I have the correct DVD?
Adding to my frustration is that online articles such as those at
www.wikipedia.org keep sending me to
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/power/library/pa-linuxps3-1/index.html?S_TACT=105AGX16&S_CMP=EDU,
which looks like very nicely written instructions on how to install
everything. If you scroll down to "Preparing to install", it says that
otheros.self can be downloaded from the Sony web site at
http://www.playstation.com/ps3-openplatform/index.html but I've looked
everywhere on this tiny web page but there are NO links to get this file.
Can some please explain what the difference is between otheros.bld and
otheros.self, where they go, who makes them, where you get them from, etc.?
