Logout, some applications refuse to close, 5.0.2 Mac

Greetings,
I've recently installed YDL 5.0.2 on a Mac G3 B&W, and on a G4 iMac.
Both were updated today (25 Feb) with 'yum update'.

On both systems, when a user chooses System -> Logout, a dialog box
appears after a few seconds with the message,
"Logout is taking too long. Some applications refuse to close..."

This happened before and after the update. This does not happen when
root user logs out.

Can someone guess as to what's up? And how to fix it?
