Tough to diagnose a subjective comparison.  Can try turning
off any services you don't plan on using, or take a look at
some speed tuning I did here:

For the fs kernel modules, you'll have to pull the kernel 
source rpm and rebuild (start with the defconfig found in
/boot, modify to taste)

For video tips, it appears to be heavily dependant on your
