San Francisco, CA -- 8 January 2002 -- Terra Soft Solutions, Inc., the leading developer of integrated Linux solutions for PowerPC(tm) systems debuts Black Lab for Yellow Dog Linux the opening day of MacWorld 2002.

"Cluster management the way it was meant to be. Simple, elegant, and powerful. Based upon feedback from our existing Black Lab customer base, this release is designed to be scalable with an architecture for 3rd party plug-ins. It lays a new foundation for what we desire to be the future of heterogeneous Linux high performance computing," states Kai Staats, co-founder and CEO of Terra Soft Solutions, Inc.

Black Lab offers graphical node management through KDE and Gnome:
 - single CD Black Lab installation
 - simple DHCP server config and automated DHCP startup
 - takes full advantage of PowerPC firmware net-boot features
 - single-command, one-time transfer of optimal node image to server
 - on-server maintenance of optimal node image
 - automated remote boot, reformat, partition, and installation of node image
 - new node requests prompt admin for allocation of IP and hostname or denial of request
 - Control Center offers live color-coded designation of node activity status

With Black Lab, clusters may be built from disparate PowerPC hardware: Blue & Whites, iBooks, G4s, and briQs to take advantage of net boot features, or OldWorld PowerPC computers with manual node creation. Nodes request and automatically receive specific ramdisk images unique to their requirements from the Black Lab server.

Black Lab is available from the Terra Soft booth #1543 and the online Store at http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/store/ in the 'Software' section.
