The excellent cross-platform Stata statistical/graphics package is now
available for Linux on PowerMac. I have run the tests that are cited on
this page on my YDL / G3-400Mhz machine.

They do not report the timings, but I have run Stata on the identical
hardware running Mac OS 8.6 and the Linux version is considerably faster.
Stata is available for academic use at very sizable discounts from the
prices posted on their web site via the Stata GradPlan.
