Hi - Just received my brand spankin' new G4 500 with Apple's SCSI option.
Apple uses a card based on the ATTO ExpressPCI UL2D. This card does use
the Sym53C896 chipset. Installation of YDL CS 1.2 was stupid simple. The
stock kernel had no problem with the SCSI card. Fifteen minutes for the
install and about 12 hours of cursing while figuring out what the hell to
do with yaboot so I could actually boot it up ;) Course yaboot is maybe a
10 minute task once you figure it all out *sigh*

Anyway, unless Apple changes something, you can add the G4 500 and Apple's
SCSI option to the list of hardware on which YDL CS 1.2 will install.

Off to patch the kernel and being the battle with X.

Jim
