Subject: External video for iBook?

Is it possible to hook up an external monitor (say 17" VGA) to an iBook, and
have YDL recognize it? This would presumably have to go via the USB port (in
which case the answer may not be iBook-specific); how would that impact
performance? I guess I'm marginally interested in the same question for
MacOS 9, now that I think about it.
