Actually, I'm afraid that does not tell you whether the cache is
currently enabled or not. It just reflects information the kernel
found in the Open Firmware device tree (which might not be accurate
if you have an upgrade card). Use /proc/sys/kernel/l2cr to find out
whether the G3's L2 cache control register (L2CR) is set to enable
the cache (and other parameters).
