For whatever it is worth, I am running YDL 2.0 with the stock 2.2.19
kernel on a Lombard and do not have any such problems.

Drop into open firmware and try
setenv boot-device hd:##,ofboot.b
reset-all
where ## is the number of your bootloader partition.
