There are two cases of the "failure to wake up" problem:

        1. The PowerBook wakes up except for the LCD, i.e., the hard
disk spins up, is responsive to the keyboard, trackpad, etc.
You can actually "type blind" into an xterm window and
           execute commands.

        2. The PowerBook doesn't wake up at all, i.e., the hard doesn't
spin up, neither the keyboard nor the trackpad are
           responsive.

In this thread, I've been talking about case 2. I have also
occasionally experienced case 1. Yes, for that case, simply
putting the PowerBook back to sleep and rewaking it makes it
        wake up completely.

Before I reset the PRAM, case 2 was occurring on just about
every wake-up attempt. Now (so far) it hasn't happened again.
