Page 58 of the "Getting Started With Your PowerBook" explains how to remove
the Processor Module to add more memory to the bottom. Does not say if it
can run without it in the slot though.

Hmmm, I forgot that I'd upgraded that machine to 2 128MB sims and I
can't remember whether the new one went in the bottom or top slots, but
I think if you only have one it goes in the bottom. There may be a Tech
doc at the Apple site that will tell you.
