Subject: RPM hangs removing packages...

All,
I recently tried to do a yup update and this failed with the following
error message:
*[john@guanine packages]# yup update
Reading RPM database... (100%)
Performing dependencies sanity check...
Error: Unable to satisfy dependency cpp = 2.95.3-2u for package gcc-g77*
This really sucks, and I couldn't figure out a way around it so I
figured removing the
gcc-g77 package would be the leasat painful route. Problem is that RPM
hangs while
doing the following:
*[john@guanine packages]# rpm -qa | grep g77
gcc-g77-2.95.3-2u
john@guanine packages]# rpm -e gcc-g77-2.95.3-2u
ттттт
ттттт
*
Sooo... I'm stuck. I can't fix the RPM package set to progress and I
can't do an update
because of this stumbling block. So how do I move forward from here?
