Subject: Newer kernels won't boot...

Hi all,
I downloaded and tried v2.2.16 of the LinuxPPC kernel, but after
compiling it the kernel just hung saying "booting...". I then tried it
again with today's kernel (2.2.17pre3) with the same results. I am using
minor variations to the default .config file.
Is there something additional I should be doing before the system will
come up?
I am using a 1999 Mac Powerbook G3 and BootX v1.2b3.
Regards,
Graham
