There are ISO disk images at YDL's website. Is that what you burned onto a CD-R? When you download the files, you have to make sure they don't decode ie through stuffit, etc. Just read the rather long thread on this list ("how to burn CD image") I ended up buying the install CD which, for the $25.00 or so, saved a lot of time and trouble. Good luck!

The CD is in the CD-tray but it is not the YDL install CD. I downloaded the files from the site and burned it onto a CD. I didn't saw the other messages about burning onto a CD-R.
Do you suggest I order a copy of the CD's or is there still another way?

This may seem over-simplistic, but do you have the YDL install CD in the CD-ROM drive? If you downloaded the CD image from YDL, there are issues about burning it onto a CD-R that are discussed elsewhere in this list. Also there are issues about which CD driver you are using. You should use Apple's latest driver appropriate for your OS version. I've got YDL running on my 8500, installed from YDL's commercial disk (couldn't burn the download image) and it fairly rocks. Hope this starts to help. -SLP

      Hi,

I'm trying to install yellow dog linux on a Mac 8500 but I'm running into some problems. When I choose local CDROM as "the type of media that contains the packages" it gives the following error "mount failed: No medium found".
Can somebody please tell me what this means and what I should do?
      thanks

      Steven
