Only if they are not in your precompiled kernel.

Look on the configs subdirectory for the kernel source RPM.
The serial port stuff shuold be on, but I'm not sure about the
IrDA stuff.
You could also:
cd /lib/modules
find . -name *irda*
and see if it prints anything. If so, then your kernel has the
IrDA modules compiled for it.
