do this:
rpm -qa [darron@buzzsaw darron]$ rpm -qa | grep proftpd
proftpd-inetd-1.2.2-1
proftpd-1.2.2-1
Then:
rpm -e proftpd
rpm -e proftpd-inetd
Then you should be able to install them again.
